Shabby Chic Ikea Lack Hack

I’ve had an Ikea Lack side table for a few years and recently decided to give it an update! For about $30 (less if you already have some of the supplies) I turned this simple Ikea table into a shabby-chic addition to my screen porch!

{Supplies}
Ikea Lack table in 22 x 22 inch
Wood Stain. I used Minwax in Jacobean
Paint. I used Benjamin Moore in Shaker Beige
(4) 1x 5.5 x 22 inches pieces of wood (they will cut wood to size for you at Home Depot)
Nails
Vinegar or Bleach (for antiquing the nails)

Place nails into a mason jar of white vinegar or bleach for several hours or over night. Take the nails out of the jar and allow to air dry.

Stain the wood following directions on the back of the Minwax.

Allow to dry completely. If the wood is at all sticky wipe down with mineral spirits
Then paint the Lack table. Allow to dry completely. Using the antiqued nails hammer the (4) wood pieces into the top of the painted lack table.

Voila! New shabby-chic Ikea table.

Happy diy-ing,

    That’s awesome! But question…when you hammer the board into the table, did you notice any signs of the wood splitting or cracking? Is the table still sturdy afterwards?
