Supper Club does Paris – Part two of our Euro trip

Part two of our trip to Europe included a few days in Paris. The history and delicious food (ah bread and cheese) were magnificent! We can’t wait to go back! Four days in Paris was definitely not enough. We are pretty sure we can’t fit any more crepes and Nutella in our bellies for at least  a year.

Here is a list of our favorite sites in Paris:

1. Normandy – My family and I are big history buffs so a day trip to Normandy was at the top of our list.  It definitely did not disappoint.  We had a tour guide that picked us up at our hotel (as well as a few other families) and took us up to the beach region.  We started off at the museum and then went on the beaches and the American cemetery.  It was an absolutely unforgettable experience.

2. Luxemburg Gardens – We spent a leisurely morning visiting the Luxemburg Gardens, and it was beautiful! From the landscape, to the atmosphere, spend a morning or a few hours in the Gardens during your visit. We snacked on cafe au lait and ice cream while watching sailboats race in the fountain. It’s the perfect spot for a little R&R on your trip.

3. The French Open – We had the opportunity to go to the French Open while we were in Paris, and it was totally amazing.  I have never been a big tennis player, but I love watching it.  My favorite part about the day was getting to eat the French version of “stadium food.”  I had a delicious ham and cheese sandwich.  Obviously part of the experience is that we were there at the right time, but I would definitely recommend it to anyone that is in the area at that time.

4. Laduree – When visiting Paris, you must stop at Laduree and pick up a few of their famous macaroons. They also have different pastries there as well if you aren’t a macaroon fan (even though they are AMAZING). The wait was a little long to enter the shop, but worth it!

5. Notre Dame – The Notre Dame is a Paris must.  It is breathtaking and definitely a can’t miss experience.  We went to visit during a Catholic holiday so it was a little bit crazy trying to get in, but once we did it was really neat.  We got to observe part of their worship which was a neat experience.

6. Eiffel Tower – Who doesn’t love the Eiffel Tower?  I love sitting on the grass lawn in front of it and just taking it all in.  For the first time, I went up to the first level of the tower.  It was so cool to be able to see so much of the city.  I would highly recommend it!
The Louvre

7. The Louvre – The Louvre is ridiculously large, so we decided to have a tour guide for the morning.  It was definitely the right decision.  She was able to show us several highlight and help us navigate through the crowds.  It was well worth the money to have this experience.
The Holy Chapel

8. The Sainte-Chapelle (The Holy Chapel) – This was one of our final stops in Paris, and one of the best! The Holy Chapel is currently going under renovation, but don’t let that stop you from visiting. It is absolutely beautiful inside. Each stain glassed window tells a different story or parable from the Bible. There is a guide inside that shows you what each window is about.

What are your favorites sites in Paris? Where should we go next?
