Stacy shared her “new” favorite drink with us, and I immediately had to make one for myself! She discovered the Emerald Gimlet last month in NYC at the ultra hip and cool restaurant Beauty and Essex. This cocktail is refreshing and perfect for these hot summer days.

Emerald Gimlet

3 big basil leaves
½ oz Lemon Simple Syrup (recipe follows)
¾ oz lime juice
2 oz Grey Goose vodka

Muddle basil with ice. Add lemon simple syrup, lime juice and vodka.
Shake and strain into Martini glass.
Garnish with a lime chip.

Lemon Simple Syrup

1 qt lemon juice
3 qt water
6 qt sugar

To make lemon simple syrup: bring juice, sugar and water to 220 F.

Recipe courtesy of Beate Kiser of Beauty and Essex.
