Atlanta Eats: Our Favorite Patio Spots and a review of Southbound

One of my favorite things about Spring and Fall is taking my meals al fresco. Atlanta has many great spaces who offer patio dinning. I recommend you add these to your Atlanta Eats bucket list.

1. Southbound

On Friday night, the hubs and I headed to Chamblee to test out Southbound. The outside eating was one of my favorite features of the restaurant.

We started with the wood grilled octopus and were impressed! It was my first grilled octopus experience and it will not be my last.

The Big Green Eggs were out and visible. The smell was overwhelmingly wonderful. DSCN6789

The tomato soup was delish! I will order again, for sure!

I ordered the scallop special of the day. I was super impressed with the rice, black eyed peas, pork and greens mixture. It tasted like New Year’s Day at my mama’s house. The scallops were a little salty for my taste.

The hubs ordered the shrimp & grits. He thought it was good, but not the best shrimp & grits in the city.

The two of us will be back to Southbound. Many of our friends thoroughly enjoyed their meals the night before. Next time, we will skip the seafood and go for the pork and chicken. I should also add that they can make almost any dish gluten free.

2. Treehouse

I love to brunch and lunch here. The spacious patio is one of my favorite places to go after church with the hubs and my favorite girls on Saturday morning.

3. Aja

Aja is a favorite of the ladies of Supper Club of the South. It’s actually were we decided to create a blog. The outside area is a hidden gem in the center of Buckhead. I love to dine there on Monday nights to enjoy their $5 sushi rolls.

4. Cantina

The outdoor space is large and completely covered. Order the Tex Mex Cobb salad and you will not be disappointed.

5. Canoe

Canoe is one of my favorite restaurants in all of Atlanta. The ambiance is heavenly. The scallops and popcorn ice cream are at the top my list.

6. La Botana

This is a hidden gem right off of 285. The hubs and I are weekly visitors and huge fans of the tacos and cheese dip. The service is great and the food comes quick and doesn’t leave a dent in your wallet.

7. Dancing Goats North Ave

Get ready for a great cup of coffee and Jeni’s ice cream. The patio is phenomenal. It is one of my favorite new spaces to meet peers for Ph.D work and to catch up with girlfriends I haven’t seen in ages.

8. Leon’s Full Service

I LOVE downtown Decatur. I always feel like I am on a mini vacation when I do dinner in the quaint town. Leon’s is always a delight. I recommend the seafood special, whatever it is.

Do you have any favorite spots to eat al fresco? Let us know!

Happy Outdoor Eating!
