I just got back from a great vacation in Oregon. I know it’s not a quick weekend getaway, but it is so worth the trip. We stayed in a great, centrally located hotel, ate (and drank) like kings, went to our first wine tasting, and even got in a little exercise with a 10k race. Here’s a quick recap in photos.
We stayed right in downtown Portland at The Nines hotel. Each room has its signature Tiffany Blue chaise. It was the perfect place to take in the beautiful views of Portland.
No trip to Portland is complete without a trip to Voodoo Doughnuts. The line is long, but it’s definitely worth the wait. We went with the Bacon Maple and Oreo Donuts. So good! Stumptown Coffee is also a must when in Oregon. We stopped by almost every morning. The latte was great to keep me warm while we waited in line for our donuts.
After all the donuts and beer we needed to burn some calories. We did the Bridge of the Gods 10k in Cascade Locks, OR. The scenery was so beautiful – #nofilter – that it almost made running (*cough* walking) 6 miles worth it. The race ended on a small island where we were greeted with cider or beer.
After burning all those calories running, we had to put them all back on by going wine tasting in the Willamette Valley. I am by no means a wine connoisseur, but it was really fun to learn about how wine is made and what we like and don’t like. We went on a private tour from Backroads Wine. The tour guide was super nice and knowledgeable. I highly recommend them if you’re ever looking to tour the Willamette Valley.
