Oh how I miss Athens. I’ve been out of college now for 6 years (yikes!), but every time I go back to visit it feels like no time has passed. It honestly feels like home. That said, I may be a little biased when I say that you need to take a trip to Athens – not on a gameday. The city has so much to offer, no matter what you’re interested in. Here’s my ideal day in the Classic City.
You should definitely get in early so you can be sure to eat at as many restaurants as possible. I’d recommend breakfast at Mama’s Boy, lunch at Weaver D’s, and basically any meal at Last Resort…you HAVE to have their cake. It’s unreal.
Spend your afternoon shopping – Athens has lots of great boutiques with reasonable prices. Some of my faves are Heery’s, Cheeky Peach, and Philanthropie – think Anthropologie but with a charitable spin.
After a full day of shopping I’m sure you’ll be very thirsty. There are an unlimited supply of watering holes to pop into, but if you’re old like me I’d recommend sticking to the “townie side” (the west side). Check out Ted’s, Copper Creek, and Trappeze. Or check out one of Athens own breweries
