After the last Root City Market, my girls (Katie & Chaundra) and I ventured to Pure Taqueria. I had been to the Roswell location a few times, but this was my first experience at the Virginia Highlands location.
We started with cheese dip (duh). I love cheese dip. If you haven’t seen our Atlanta Queso Bucket List, now is the perfect opportunity. While the cheese dip is fabulous at Pure, the cans of DC (read: Diet Coke) is one of my cons. I love tap diet coke with fresh lemon, especially at a Mexican restaurant. I had the shrimp tacos (Camaron) on corn tortillas. The even grilled the shrimp instead of frying them. Gluten free for the win!
The waitress let me swap my rice and beans for plantains. They were INCREDIBLE and gluten free. I recommend this replacement for everyone.
Katie had the steak tacos and loved them! This is a big win for Pure since Katie is basically a taco expert. Chaundra had the fried fish tacos and was pleased. Even though her order took longer than expected (read: forever), she said they were worth the wait.
Will I be back? Yes! The waitresses were very helpful and knowledgeable of gluten free options . We even asked to move after we were sat in direct sunlight. They were happy to help. The prices are also very reasonable. My only real complaint were the wait for the food, especially since the restaurant was empty. While Saturday afternoon meals are more casual, we still didn’t want to wait forever for it. I also wish they would have stated that Diet Coke was canned on the menu.
