Atlanta Eats: Gypsy Kitchen

gypsyMy husband and I went out for a double date Saturday, and we decided to check out Gypsy Kitchen at the new Streets of Buckhead development.  It is a Spanish tapas style restaurant with Moroccan and Indian influences.

The wait was really reasonable for a Saturday night. We went over to the bar and ordered drinks.  House of Cards for me and some kind of drink that was like a Moscow Mule but with Boubon (we forgot the name) for him.  Both were really delicious!  By the time we got our drinks our table was ready.  The bar was really nice and modern, and they’ve done a great job with the decor/ambiance of the space.

*confession: it was super dark while I was there so all of my pictures were HORRIBLE.  This is a great shot from the restaurant’s website.

We started out with a little cheese and charcuterie – manchego with serrano ham.  You can never wrong with a cheese plate in my book.  Very good!

Each couple decided to order a few tapas and then share an entree.  We went with the cauliflower salad, chicken croquettas, and stuffed shrimp with paella as our main course.  I wouldn’t say any of it was bad, but I also wouldn’t say any of it was good.  It was all just ok, and for the price I expected a lot more.

Luckily they redeemed themselves with dessert.  The chocolate cake was heavenly!

Verdict:  We will definitely be back for drinks and dessert or a cheese plate.  It has a great atmosphere and an excellent patio.  Next time we will probably skip dinner though.
