My name is Kathryn and I have a makeup problem! Maybe it is a Texas thing or an only child thing, but whatever it is I have a thing- I love makeup. The funniest thing about my love for makeup is that I do not wear it every day. This is a highly debated subject in some groups, but I work in a very casual office with a small group of people so many days I just put on moisturizer and hit the door. When I put my face on I am all in though! Below are some of my favorites, but I would not be honest if I did not tell you that my list could go on and on.
The Planner: My love for makeup was really brought to life when I moved to Atlanta and met Michael at Woo Skincare + Cosmetics. I came into this amazing store with a large basket full of makeup and a big request- Can you help me take what I have, add to it, and make me look amazing? The answer was- YES he can! His first step was to get my materials out of a deep basket. If you can’t see what you have you buy more and never use what you bought. Enter the Trish McEvoy Classic Black Planner. I have the mini for everyday and then the professional sized one for the rest of the loot. A little tip that people will not share- most blush and eye shadows are held in compacts with a magnet so you can pop them out and put them in your planner even if they are not made by Trish.
Eyes: For daily eyes I like to keep it simple. I use Trish McEvoy Eye Base as a primer on my eyes. For shadows I use two or three shades of Trish eye shadow to create a natural look. Vanilla and Smokey Taupe are my favorites. I finish my eyes with Bobbi Brown long-wear gel eyeliner in black and Bobbi Brown smokey eye mascara. The liner last for ever and gives you flexibility to go very thin or thicker. The mascara was in my Christmas stocking and I am now on my second one because I loved it so much.
Face: Unless I am going to a big party or event I sick with a very light tinted moisturizer. My favorite is Trish McEvoy Instant Solutions Beauty Balm. It has SPF 35 which is also nice. If you want lots of coverage this is not for you. On humid days in Atlanta I set this with power. Trish has some nice options that provide more or less coverage. The Texas comes out of me when it comes to blush and sometimes I have to rein myself in. I am currently using this one in pink glow because it goes in my planner.
Lips: No one makes a lipstick like Chanel in my personal opinion. My current go to is the Rouge Coco Shine Hydrating Sheer Lipshine line in the color “Boy”. I also love Chanel glosses and they are easy to keep in your purse for touchups.
Extras: Kiehl’s lip balm is one of the first things I put on when i sit down to do my makeup and the mint adds some fun. I also keep testers of Jo Malone Wood Sage and Sea Salt in case i am not home next to my full size bottle.
