Atlanta Eats: Canoe

Last Tuesday, the hubs and I headed to one of my favorite restaurants in Atlanta, Canoe, to celebrate my birthday. One of my favorite things about Canoe is that you don’t even feel like you are in the city anymore. It’s like a retreat away from all the hustle and bustle in Atlanta.

Patio seating is definitely my favorite place to enjoy dinner at Canoe. If you can’t get patio seats, arrive before your reservation and enjoy a cocktail at the outdoor bar.

We started with Canoe’s house smoked salmon on top of a crispy potato cake with Vermont goat cheese.

Incredibly delicious and gluten free!

We love how they split apps on separate plates for easy sharing.

Next we had the baby arugula salad with spiced nuts, shaved parmesan, and  poppy seed vinaigrette.

One salad split is plenty for two people. The always offer to split without us even asking.

For dinner I had the hickory roasted Niman Ranch pork chop, with Dukkah, apple, brussels, cranberry,  and house bacon. I was disappointed they didn’t have my favorite scallops on the menu, but was very impressed with the pork chop. I wanted something that was already gluten free and this hit the nail on the head. The chef at Canoe is great at making almost any dish gluten free, but I always enjoy the original creations more.

The hubs enjoyed the Georgia rabbit with mushroom tortellini, house bacon and candied garlic sauce.

Lastly, we ended with the gluten free chocolate cake served with passion fruit and white chocolate. It takes a lot for me not to order the popcorn ice cream at Canoe, but this was so worth it. This new dessert was heavenly and enjoyed by the gluten- loving hubs as well.

Our dinner was incredible, per usual. We love the fact that they don’t rush you like other “nice” restaurants we dine at in Atlanta. We were at Canoe for over two hours and enjoyed the beautiful views and delicious food. One of our favorite parts about Canoe is that you can make reservations online, even with special request (gluten free/ birthday/ you name it). If you haven’t been, you should definitely try it out.

Do you have any Atlanta date night suggestions?
