One of my favorite things about weddings (besides celebrating the bride and groom) is the wedding guest bag! Wedding guest bags are perfect for welcoming your out of town guests. Not only do they provide important weekend information, they give a peak into the bride and grooms’ favorite things!
For our wedding in Maine, we wanted to not only highlight our favorite things, but have something our guest could take home as a souvenir from their time in our favorite place in the world.
Here are our tips on how to create the perfect wedding guest bag.
What you need:
1. The Bag – We used an adorable canvas bag with lobsters on the handles from a local Maine store – Reny’s. We originally wanted to use this L.L. Bean tote; however, the price was a little more than we could spend with over 100 guests coming. For my brother’s wedding, they used a market bag from Whole Foods. Whole Foods origniated in Austin, TX where my sister-in-law is from. Get creative! If you’re a runner, use a runners bag.
2. A Weekend Guide – It’s important to have a weekend schedule for your guests. Ours included a picture of us on the front, a welcome note inside, a schedule of weekend events, contact information (wedding coordinator, my parents, etc.) and on the last page we had a list of what was inside the bag and how they were related to us.
3. Wedding Koozie – You don’t have to have this at all, but we included one! We had a welcome reception the Friday before our wedding so we wanted to get these to our guests beforehand.
4. All the goodies! We included: our favorite snacks, our favorite drinks, advil, favorite candy, a Starbucks drink (where we had our first date), and a snack from where we are both from. I am from Georgia so we had Georgia peanuts. Chris is from Germany so we had German chocolate in the bag! We were also featured in the local weekly paper so we included a copy for each of our guests.
See below for our wedding guest bag and the descriptions for each item included!
